About

I’m a certified postpartum doula with over five years of experience, but I’ve been supporting families in different capacities throughout my career. After completing a master’s degree in Anthropology in London, I moved to New York City and became a special education teacher at a public school in Brooklyn, a role I continued in upstate New York, where I had my daughter. In 2013, my husband’s job took us to Pittsburgh, where I became a Behavior Specialist, working closely with parents of preschoolers with disabilities. By 2021, I was ready for a change, though I knew I wanted to stay in the world of kids and families. It was my dear friend Laura, a postpartum doula herself, who helped me see that my past experiences and my drive to help people were a perfect fit for this work.

As both a mom and a postpartum doula, I understand the joys and challenges that come with adjusting to life with a new baby. Every family has its own strengths, values, and needs, and I’m committed to offering non-judgmental care that meets you where you are. Many of the families I work with are professionals or transplants to the Pittsburgh area, without extended family nearby, who need reliable, knowledgeable support that fits into their lives. My aim is to be a calm presence in your home, offering both reassurance and expertise.

I really enjoy this work. Besides spending time with adorable newborns and talking with parents, I love cooking and making sure families are fed, and I find a lot of satisfaction in helping take care of household tasks. I can teach you techniques for calming a fussy baby, offer guidance on newborn feeding and sleep patterns, support with babywearing, and answer most of your baby-related questions. I want you to feel supported, capable, and a little more rested.

When I’m not working, you can usually find me spending time with my family and dog, traveling, cooking, reading, or getting creative.

Testimonials

Hiring Sheri was one of the best investments we made for our family. As second-time parents, we thought we had a good sense of what to expect, but having Sheri’s support made our postpartum experience significantly calmer, and more manageable.

I initially imagined that her role would mostly be caring for the baby so I could rest, but what made Sheri exceptional was her ability to recognize what our family needed in the moment and step in wherever she could make the biggest impact. She has a wonderful way of anticipating needs without being intrusive. Some days that meant caring for our baby so I could shower, nap, or spend time with my older child. Other days it meant washing bottles and pump parts, folding baby laundry, doing baby baths, preparing meals, tidying the kitchen, or taking care of other small tasks that can quickly pile up. Those acts of service gave me the mental space to recover and be more present with my family. Also, her cookies are the best!

Sheri is incredible with babies, and she is adept at handling difficult situations that arise during newborn care. I felt completely confident leaving our baby in her care, which allowed me to truly rest. She also supported the routines we were trying to establish, while respecting our parenting preferences.

Sheri consistently confirmed visits, communicated clearly, and was always dependable. I never had to wonder whether something would get done or whether she would show up—she was professional, punctual, and thoughtful in every interaction. Beyond the practical help, Sheri brought a calming presence into our home. She always met us where we were, and offered reassurance and encouragement.

I wholeheartedly recommend Sheri as a postpartum doula. She is compassionate, knowledgeable, dependable, and incredibly intuitive. We are grateful for the care she provided and know our postpartum experience was better because she was part of it.- Priyanka

My family’s experience with Sheri exceeded my expectations. She guided my husband and I through the toughest transition of our lives and left us feeling informed, supported and confident in our new roles as parents. Sheri listened to our worries and struggles and found ways to support us in ways that we didn’t even know we needed. Sheri never judged our parenting style and always gave us a new perspective. She cooked meals for us, helped with laundry, cared for our son, made sure we were taking care of ourselves and so much more. I would have signed up for at least 3 months with her off the bat if I knew just how much I’d miss her when our time ended. I can’t recommend her enough and I tell everyone I know about how positive our experience was. Sheri is the best doula and such a cool human!- Tara

Sheri was an absolute God send during my postpartum with my daughter. Our house was really turned upside down with the birth of our second. She was just the support I needed. She always seemed to be in tune with my needs that were ever changing by the day. She could sense when I needed to be fed, when I needed sleep, or needed an ear to talk to. I must say she is also an excellent cook. I was following a mixture of confinement practices and she was willing to learn the recipes I provided. She was a true baby whisperer with my daughter and kept her comforted so I could get valuable sleep. My toddler absolutely adored Sheri, he would ask for her and was excited to see her after preschool. As a person without much of a support system, I was not used to having someone I could lean on and ask for help; I was nervous going into it. Sheri made it so easy, and to be honest I felt truly cared for and it really meant the world to me! I wish I could have booked her for every day of the week instead of 3.- Meghan
